Congratulations to Coach Brett Bourgeois and the entire Miley organization for their fine championship season in 2011.
The Miley parents were there the entire season long supporting their team in good times and in bad.
Then the Girard Vikings overcame their woeful early season start and continued to improve week after week. They raised their position to the number 3 seed going into the playoffs and they fought their way into the championship game by defeating the #1 seed in today's first game.
Well done, Girard, players, coaches and parents.
And the Viking fans were there in the tough early season and were out in force through the playoffs.
As league directors we were pleased with the intensity of the ball games throughout the playoffs, especially tonight. While at times on Thursday the play may not have been the best, everyone had to admire the hustle and drive exhibited by each team. The close nature of the championship contest, with its lead changes and dramatics, was a fitting end to the season.
